folding carton FAQ
folding carton FAQ

General

  1. Are you public or privately owned?
Diamond is a privately-held, 100% women-owned, WBENC-Certified Women's Business Enterprise. Our transition to a women-owned business brings new opportunities to carry the best of Diamond's traditions forward into the future: quality, innovation, and passion.
  2. Are you a union shop?
No. We have always been a non-union shop.
  3. What kind of folding cartons do you manufacture?
We produce paperboard and plastic folding cartons, blister cards, and counter displays, as well as provide contract packaging and fulfillment services. The folding cartons we produce are custom made to your specifications and fold flat in a shipping carton. We have the ability to fill your cartons at DCM, our contract manufacturing and contract packaging division.
  4. Do you provide stock boxes?
No, everything we produce is custom made in our facilities. There are other companies that can provide white cartons in stock sizes. What we offer is packaging that is custom made to market your products exclusively.
  5. Are you an international company?
Yes, Diamond Packaging is a founding member of the Global Packaging Alliance (GPA). You can learn more about the GPA by visiting www.global-packaging-alliance.com.
  6. What markets do you serve?
We produce custom-made paperboard and plastic folding cartons for the pharmaceutical, personal care, health care, cosmetic, fragrance, photographic, food and confectionery, household, and consumer products market segments.

Service

  1. What is your minimum order quantity?
Our minimum order quantity is 5,000 cartons. Since we design and manufacture custom folding cartons, the set up costs are a larger portion of the total cost if quantities are small. Therefore, you may want to consider a "stock box" for quantities under 5,000.
  2. How long does it take for a quote? Samples? To produce and order? To ship?
A quote takes from 1-2 days, depending on the complexity of the item. Samples can be made in approximately 2 days, depending on complexity. New orders typically take about 4-6 weeks and repeat orders about 2 weeks, although we can turn around rush orders more quickly, as our schedule permits. Depending on where you are located and the carrier chosen, it will take approximately 1 to 4 days to deliver product to you.
  3. Is there a sales rep in my area?
We have many experienced account managers located in sales offices throughout the United States. Based on your specific requirements, we will match up the Diamond account manager best able to meet your packaging needs.
  4. Do you offer fulfillment services?
Yes, Diamond Contract Manufacturing (DCM) offers a full line of contract packaging services. We provide carton filling, blistering, skin packaging and form/fill & seal to name a few of our services. We are ISO9001:2000 certified and have a clean room that enables us to economically package a wide variety of pharmaceutical and medical device products.
See our Diamond Contract Manufacturing (DCM) section to learn more.
  5. Do you have your own truck?
Yes, we have a truck for local deliveries. For long distance shipments we use a number of contracted carriers whom we have worked with for years.

Technical

  1. How do you measure the length, width, and depth of a carton?
    [See diagram]
  2. How many colors can you print in one pass?
We can print up to 7 colors in one pass on our offset presses and up to 8 colors on our web flexo press, plus water based or UV coatings.
  3. What is the difference between web flexo and offset?
Web flexo is a roll-fed, relief-printing process while offset is a sheet-fed, surface printing process.
  4. What is CTP and do you offer it?

  5. How do you accept electronic graphic file transmissions in your prepress area?
We accept electronic files using various methods: File Transfer Protocol (FTP), ISDN line, compact disk (CD), ZIP disk, and email. We can provide you access to our Client Login section for our detailed prepress manual if you require.
  6. What software do you support in your electronic prepress department?
We have a Mac-based workflow supporting various software programs, which include: Illustrator, Freehand, Photoshop, ArtPro. We can provide you access to our Client Login section to obtain our detailed prepress manual if needed.
